Bill: After PM Modi's announcement, the Nari Shakti Vandan Act was introduced in Lok Sabha, 181 seats fixed for women in the House

While presenting the Nari Shakti Vandan Act, Meghwal alleged that earlier, the bill was deliberately not allowed to be passed. Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday announced the introduction of the first law in the new Parliament House. He said that the government is going to introduce the Nari Shakti Vandan Bill for women's empowerment. PM Modi sought cooperation from the opposition parties for this and said that September 19 will be immortal in history. After this, Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal introduced this bill in the House. In this, 33 per cent reservation was announced for women in Lok Sabha and Assemblies. It has been told that 181 seats will be reserved for women in the Lok Sabha.

What is included in the Nari Shakti Vandan Act?
Union Law Minister Meghwal said that women would be given 33 per cent reservation in the Lok Sabha and assemblies of different states. He said that after this law is made, the number of women in the House will increase. The period of women's reservation is currently kept at 15 years. Lok Sabha will have the right to extend its period. Meghwal alleged that earlier, the bill was deliberately not allowed to be passed.

What did the Prime Minister say on the announcement of the bill?
There are such milestones in the development journey of every country when it proudly says that today, we all have created a new history. Few such moments are available in life. In the first speech of the first session of the new House, I am saying with confidence and pride that today's moment and today's day is a time to register its name in history by receiving the blessings of Samvatsari and Ganesh Chaturthi. This is a moment of pride for all of us. There have been many discussions regarding women's reservation for many years. There have been many debates. Some efforts have already been made in Parliament regarding women's reservations. A bill related to this was introduced in 1996. Women's Reservation Bill was raised several times during Atal Ji's tenure, but he needed help to gather the data to pass it, and that is why that dream remained unfulfilled.

The PM said, "Maybe God has chosen me for sacred works like giving rights to women and giving them power. Once again, our government has taken a step in this direction. Just yesterday, the Women's Reservation Bill was approved in the Cabinet. That is why this date of 19th September is going to achieve immortality in history. Today, women are progressing rapidly in every field. They are taking leadership, so it is essential that our mothers and sisters, our women's power, should be involved in policy-making. Could you make a maximum contribution? Not only contribute but also play an essential role. Today, on this historic occasion, on the occasion of the first proceedings of the House in the new Parliament building, this recent change in the country has been called for.

Prime Minister Modi further said, "We are going to start with this important decision that all the MPs should come together and open new gateways for the women power of the country. Taking forward the resolve of women-led development, our government will introduce a major constitutional amendment. Is presenting the bill. Its purpose is to expand the participation of women in the Lok Sabha and the Legislative Assemblies. Our democracy will be further strengthened through this Nari Shakti Vandan Act. I congratulate the mothers, sisters and daughters of the country for the Nari Shakti Vandan Act. I congratulate him very much. I assure all the mothers, sisters and daughters that we are determined to implement this bill."

praised women power
PM Modi said, "Be it space or sports, the world is seeing the strength of women. Women-led development was discussed in the G20. The world is welcoming and accepting it. The world is understanding that only women The talk of action is not enough. If we have to achieve new milestones in the development journey of humanity, if we have to reach new destinations in the development journey of the nation, then we should emphasise development under the leadership of women. The world will hear India's words at the G20. Has accepted.

Modi said, "Each of our schemes for women empowerment has taken significant steps towards giving leadership to women. Jan Dhan Yojana was started keeping in mind the economic inclusion. Most of the women became account holders in Rs—50 crore. Rs. 10 lakh in Mudra Yojana. Loans worth Rs. 1000 were given, and women took maximum advantage of them. Under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, most of the registrations of permanent houses were done in the name of women."

There have been efforts for women's reservations earlier, also.
The Women's Reservation Bill will be different from the bill brought in 2010, and it may have a provision for giving reservations to women in other bodies beyond Parliament and Assemblies. There is a discussion that in women's reservation, one-third of seats can be reserved for women on the basis of rotation. Let us tell you that since 1996, there has been a demand to give reservations to women in Parliament, but till now, these efforts have yet to be successful. In the year 2010, even during the UPA government, the Women's Reservation Bill was introduced in the Rajya Sabha, the upper house of the Parliament. The bill was also passed from there, but due to pressure from allies, this bill could not be brought to the Lok Sabha.
According to reports, differences may also emerge in the opposition alliance regarding the Women's Reservation Bill. Actually, the reason for this is that some opposition parties are demanding particular reservations for SC/ST and OBC communities in the Women's Reservation Bill. Whereas the Women's Reservation Bill, which was introduced by Congress in 2010, there was no provision for any sub-reservation. In such a situation, it will be interesting to see how the opposition parties are reacting to the new bill.
