Pannu

India has a dismissed the allegations made by The Washington Post regarding a conspiracy to murder Khalistani terrorist Gurpatwant Singh Pannu as baseless.

A RAW officer named Vikram Yadav in America was allegedly involved in the conspiracy to murder Pannun, and the then head of the Indian spy agency, Samant Goyal, approved this step, according to the news. Foreign Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal has called this a serious matter and stated that the report makes unfair and baseless allegations.

The White House has not commented on the FBI's investigation and the criminal case filed by the Justice Department in this matter but has acknowledged that India is taking allegations of a conspiracy to assassinate Sikh separatist leader Gurpatwant Singh Pannu in America seriously. White House Press Secretary Carine Jean-Pierre has stated that India is an essential strategic supporter of America and that they are pursuing an ambitious agenda to expand their cooperation in many areas. Jean-Pierre has also noted that the US expects accountability from the government based on the investigation but will continue to raise their concerns.

The alleged plot to kill Pannu in America coincides with the fatal shooting of Khalistani terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar on June 18 in Surrey, British Columbia, Canada, on June 18 last year. The Western officials claim that this campaign was also linked to Yadav. According to The Washington Post, both assassination plots were hatched amid rising violence in Pakistan, where at least 11 Sikh or Kashmiri separatists living in exile and declared terrorists by the Indian government have been killed in the past two years.

India's External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal has said that they have constituted a high-level committee to investigate America's allegations in the Pannu case. The Committee is looking at the information shared with them by the US as it equally impacts their national security.
