TMC

TMC has lodged a complaint with the Chief Electoral Officer of West Bengal against the CBI for what we allege to be the misconduct of conducting raids on election day in Sandeshkhali, a transparent violation of the election code of conduct.

The party has accused the CBI of conducting the raids at vacant places with the intention of tarnishing TMC's image during the Lok Sabha elections. During the raids, the CBI discovered a large cache of arms and ammunition, including a police revolver and foreign-made firearms.

The TMC, in a proactive move, has requested unbiased guidelines/framework to prevent central investigating agencies from disrupting the campaign efforts of political parties, including the All India Trinamool Congress (AITC), which opposes the ruling government. However, despite repeated requests, the TMC expresses deep frustration and concern that the electoral office has turned a blind eye while central investigative agencies are wreaking havoc across the country, especially during elections.

The TMC has expressed that the CBI deliberately conducted a raid at an empty place in Sandeshkhali during the voting for the parliamentary constituencies of West Bengal, Darjeeling, Raiganj, and Balurghat. The media reports suggest that the CBI had conducted the raid on national security grounds. The TMC, however, has accused the CBI of not issuing an actionable notice to the authorities before conducting the raids, despite the fact that 'law and order' is a domain entirely within the purview of the state government.

Moreover, the TMC has raised serious doubts about the CBI's actions, questioning why the agency did not seek assistance from the state police's fully functional bomb disposal squad instead of calling additional forces, including the bomb squad of the National Security Guard (NSG). The party has also expressed concerns that media persons were present even before the state administration reached the spot. At such a time, it was already news across the country that weapons were recovered during the raid. The TMC has expressed strong suspicions about whether the guns were actually recovered during the search and seizure process or were seized by the CBI but kept secret by NSG.
