Lok Sabha

The Lok Sabha Election 2024 has already begun to attract public and media attention.

In the midst of this, a significant development unfolded when Rashtriya Janata Dal chief Lalu Prasad Yadav made a statement advocating for Muslim reservations. This statement has not only sparked a political debate but also drawn the attention of the BJP, including Prime Minister Modi, who has seized the issue and started attacking the India alliance. Pallavi Patel's reaction to this statement has also come to the fore, adding another layer to the ongoing debate.

Pallavi Patel, the leader of PDM (an alliance focusing on the backward, Dalit, and Muslim communities) in Uttar Pradesh, has been a strong advocate for the participation of these communities in the election. Her vocal stance on granting rights to these groups and her decision to contest the polls in UP in alliance with Asaduddin Owaisi's party demonstrates her unwavering commitment to their cause.

However, the intrigue deepened when Pallavi Patel was asked about Lalu Prasad Yadav's statement regarding Muslim reservations. During a campaign in support of Apna Dal Kamerawadi candidate Daulat Singh in Mirzapur, she was confronted with this question. Instead of providing a direct answer, she silently shook her head and left, leaving the question unanswered. This unexpected response has left many wondering about her stance on the issue.

It is worth noting that Lalu Prasad Yadav's advocacy for giving reservations to Muslims has not just sparked a debate but also controversy. This prompted the BJP to corner the India alliance regarding this statement. CM Yogi also criticised Congress, SP, and RJD, saying that if they get a chance, they will dent the reservation of backwards, scheduled castes and tribes and give it to minorities.

However, Lalu Yadav later changed his statement within a few hours. He clarified that the basis of reservation is not religion but social backwardness and that the Mandal Commission, which was implemented during their tenure, provides reservation to more than 3,500 backward castes, including hundreds of castes of other religions.
