Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar will now receive 'Z' category security. According to the Ministry of Home Affairs, the security of the Chief Election Commissioner has increased based on a confidential report from the Intelligence Bureau (IB). However, the Home Ministry still needs to share detailed information regarding the IB's report on security threats with the media.

Under the Z category security protocol, 33 security personnel, including CRPF commandos, will be deployed to ensure Rajiv Kumar's security. This includes ten armed static guards stationed at Kumar's residence, six private security officers (PSOs) providing round-the-clock security, and 12 armed escort commandos working three shifts. Additionally, two watchers and three standby trend drivers will ensure Kumar's security at all times.

The current political landscape also influences the decision to enhance Rajiv Kumar's security. Sources suggest that this decision comes amid escalating tensions ahead of the Lok Sabha elections, as opposition parties like Trinamool Congress are continuously protesting against the Election Commission.
