New Delhi: Technology company Google's payment app Google Pay on Thursday introduced the UPI Lite feature on its platform, which will facilitate small digital payments. Google said that UPI Lite will allow users to deposit up to Rs 4,000 in a day for instant payments. Under this, the user will be able to pay up to a maximum of Rs 200 at a time.
Designed by the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI), this feature does not require entering the UPI PIN for making small payments. Google's Vice President of Product Management Ambrish Kenghe said that unique features are necessary to increase the acceptance of digital payments in the country.
The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) introduced this feature in September 2022.
