Metro Harassment

Accused of harassing minor boy in Delhi Metro apprehended swiftly.

The individual accused of harassing a minor boy in the Delhi Metro was caught after authorities examined CCTV footage from 15 stations.

In a recent incident on the Delhi Metro, a 28-year-old individual named Jitendra Gautam, residing in Kheda Khurd village in Delhi, was apprehended on allegations of indecently touching and harassing a minor boy. The incident reportedly occurred on May 3rd when the minor boy was travelling home and reached Rajiv Chowk Metro Station.

According to reports, the minor boy took to the social media platform X to narrate the incident, stating that a man began touching him inappropriately as they boarded the train. Despite initial thoughts that it might have been unintentional, the harassment allegedly continued until they reached Kashmiri Gate Metro Station.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Metro) R.G. Naik highlighted the seriousness of the matter, stating that although the complainant initially assumed it was accidental, the accused persisted in his inappropriate behaviour towards the minor. Subsequently, a case was registered at Rajiv Chowk Metro Station, prompting an investigation into the matter.

The investigation team meticulously reviewed CCTV footage from a total of 15 metro stations, stretching from Rajiv Chowk to Jahangirpuri Metro Station, in an effort to identify the perpetrator. It was discovered that the accused had disembarked at Jahangirpuri Metro Station, having boarded the metro from Kaushambi Metro Station.

Further analysis of CCTV footage in and around Kaushambi Metro Station revealed the accused's movements after exiting the station, indicating his route via a service road. Authorities intensified their efforts to track down the suspect, collaborating with local communities, shopkeepers, and security personnel to identify Jitendra Gautam.

After extensive investigations and covert intelligence operations, law enforcement successfully apprehended Jitendra Gautam, bringing him into custody for further legal proceedings. This incident underscores the importance of surveillance systems and community cooperation in ensuring the safety and security of passengers on public transportation systems like the Delhi Metro.
