In a significant political move, PM Narendra Modi met with Jam Saheb Shatrushaly Singh in Jamnagar.

This meeting could have implications for the upcoming elections. Reacting to the comments made by BJP candidate Parshottam Rupala, the Rajput community is expressing its discontent. Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi met with a descendant of the royal family in Jamnagar on Thursday. During this meeting, he also praised the community's sacrifices. Ahead of the election rally scheduled in Jamnagar on Thursday evening, PM Modi met with Jam Saheb Shatrushaly Singh.

After the meeting with Jam Saheb, PM Modi posted on his ex-account, "Today, I met Jam Saheb Shatrushaly Singh at his residence in Jamnagar. Meeting and conversing with him is always a great privilege. His passion and understanding are admirable."

PM Modi recalled the battle of Bhuchar Mori after the meeting with Jam Saheb. The battle took place in 1591 between the army of Kathiawad, led by Navanagar state, and the Mughal army near Dhrangadhra in Jamnagar. Although the Mughal army won the battle, many people from both sides lost their lives.

"In the past, when I was the Chief Minister of Gujarat, some leaders of the Kshatriya community came to meet me and invited me to participate in a program in Bhuchar Mori. One of them said to me that although they were inviting me, they knew I wouldn't come," PM Modi said.

"Then I asked him why he was saying that, and he told me that no Chief Minister had ever gone there because rumours had been spread that if a Chief Minister went there, he would lose his position. I told him that I would definitely come because my Chief Minister position is not important in front of the sacrifices of the Kshatriya community. I participated in that program," PM Modi added.

The Kshatriya community, also known as Rajputs, is troubled by the statements made by BJP candidate Parshottam Rupala regarding the former rulers. Rupala sparked a heated controversy by claiming that the former 'Maharajas' had bowed down to the oppression of foreign rulers and even married their daughters off to the English. This comment received strong and widespread criticism from the Kshatriya community in Gujarat, as the majority of the former royal families were Rajputs.

Since then, the Kshatriya community has been demanding the immediate cancellation of Parshottam Rupala's candidature. However, the BJP has not revoked his candidature, leading to a statewide agitation by the Kshatriya community. This development has significant political implications, potentially affecting the outcome of the upcoming elections. It has also been announced that at least 4 'mega conventions' or large gatherings will be held before the elections on May 7 to defeat BJP on at least ten seats, including Rajkot and Jamnagar in Gujarat.
