Congress leader Rahul Gandhi filed his nomination for the Raebareli Lok Sabha seat amidst a warm reception from party workers. The air was filled with chants of "Long live Rahul Gandhi" as he performed a puja (ritual) and commenced his election campaign. Rahul Gandhi arrived at the Congress office to file his nomination and was greeted by a massive crowd of enthusiastic supporters who cheered him on. Raebareli is considered a stronghold of the Congress party, and Rahul Gandhi was declared as the candidate on the final day of nominations. After completing the nomination process, Rahul Gandhi participated in a prayer ceremony at the Congress election office.

The Raebareli seat, which Sonia Gandhi won in the 2019 elections, became vacant after her transition to the Rajya Sabha. Rahul Gandhi has now stepped in to contest from this constituency. The Lok Sabha elections in Uttar Pradesh witnessed a coalition between the Samajwadi Party and the Congress. The voting for the Raebareli seat will take place on May 20th in the fifth phase of the elections.
