A Metadata center will be established at the Reliance campus.
Meta, the parent company of Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp, is set to open its first data center in India at the Reliance Industries campus in Chennai. This move is expected to significantly enhance the user experience for these platforms' 1.1 billion Indian users, as it will enable faster data processing within the country.
Compared to America, double the number of users.
It should be noted that Facebook has 314.6 million, Instagram has 350 million, and WhatsApp has 480 million users in India. In terms of users, India is far ahead of America. Compared to America, there are twice as many users in India. Considering this user base, Meta is considering making data storage local in India. However, an official announcement has yet to be made.
What will be the benefit to Indians?
Currently, Indian users' data goes to Singapore. With the opening of data centers in India, Meta will find it easier to process local user-generated content. With the help of the data center to be lost in the Reliance campus, Meta will be able to operate four to five nodes in different parts of India. It will accelerate data processing in India. Opening data centers in India will improve user experience and reduce the cost of global data centers. It should be noted that a large group of computer servers is connected to the data center network, where heavy data storage and processing take place. Social media companies receive heavy data from their platforms, for which data centers are required for storage.
