Honda 2Wheelers is planning to launch a new bike in India next week on 27 August. The word on the street is that it will be a new 200 cc bike, probably based on CB Hornet 160R.

Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India (HMSI) started its BS6 journey in India with a very lean portfolio that comprised only a handful of two-wheelers. However, the motorcycle maker has expanded its BS6 range with several new scooters and bikes, including an entry-level performance bike — X-Blade. However, the company is planning to launch another bike in India next week on 27 August. Now, there has been no official word from Honda about this new upcoming bike but the word on the street is that it could be a new 200 cc motorcycle. This will make it the flagship mass-market bike in Honda 2Wheelers portfolio in India.

KEY HIGHLIGHTS

  • HMSI will launch a new bike in India next week
  • It could be a new 200 cc bike based on CB Hornet 160R
  • It will be Honda’s flagship mass-market bike in India

The new upcoming Honda 200 cc bike will most likely be a naked streetfighter. There are also reports surfacing on the internet that the bike could be CB Hornet 200R, especially considering that the company has not yet launched CB Hornet 160R’s BS6 version. So, perhaps Honda is hoping to enter the 200 cc segment with Hornet and will count on X-Blade in the 150  cc to 160 cc category.

The upcoming 200 cc Honda bike will be facing tough competition from the likes of TVS Apache RTR 200 4V, Bajaj NS200, and the upcoming Hero Xtreme 200S. Now, Honda products are usually costlier than their rivals and we believe this to be the case with the new bike as well. This means that the Japanese brand will have to offer an interesting package of performance, hardware components, design, and features to rack up sales. We can hope to receive more information about the new Honda bike over the next few days as the launch event is slated for next week.
