The cricketer who pulled of the 13th edition of the Indian Premier League citing ‘personal reasons’ has demanded justice for his family and said ‘those criminals should not be spared to commit more crimes.’

According to a report by PTI the gruesome incident took place at Thariyal village in Punjab’s Pathankot district on the night intervening August 19 and 20. During the attack by the heavily armed robbers, Raina’s aunt, and three more of his relatives, sustained injuries. The report also said that three to four members of the notorious ‘Kale Kachhewala gang’, a group of robbers who don ‘Kale Kachche’ or even police uniforms to evade detection, had come with an intention to rob the family. They attacked Ashok Kumar and his family members when they were sleeping at the terrace of their house.

Raina whi was supposed to be the IPL, pulled out soon after BCCI in a press release revealed that two players in Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have tested positive for the dreaded Coronavirus including an Indian fast-bowler and a top-order India A batsman. 12 staff members have also tested positive.

My uncle was slaughtered to death: Suresh Raina seeks Punjab CM Amarinder Singh’s help over attack on family

The former India international cricketer and Chennai Super Kings batsman had shocked the cricketing fraternity last week by immediately opting out of the entire IPL 2020

Former India cricketer Suresh Raina has come out for the first time since it was announced last week that the star batsman had opted out of the IPL 2020 for personal reasons. Later, on the same day last week, reports emerged about Raina’s uncle being killed in Punjab’s Pathankot area by armed robbers while a few of his (uncle’s) family members were also heavily injured.

Raina took to social media to break his silence about the entire incident which has disturbed the cricketing sphere.  The left-handed batsman wrote that one of his cousins also passed away on Monday after being attacked by the robbers.

“What happened to my family is Punjab was beyond horrible. My uncle was slaughtered to death, my bua & both my cousins had sever injuries. Unfortunately my cousin also passed away last night after battling for life for days. My bua is still very very critical & is on life support,” he tweeted.

“Till date we don’t know what exactly had happened that night & who did this. I request @PunjabPoliceInd to look into this matter. We at least deserve to know who did this heinous act to them. Those criminals should not be spared to commit more crimes. @capt_amarinder @CMOPb”
