For the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) has made significant changes in its candidate list for 11 seats in Uttar Pradesh. Notably, the party has replaced its candidate in Mainpuri and introduced a Muslim candidate in Varanasi. Furthermore, BSP has nominated Shrikala Singh, the wife of Dhananjay Singh, from Jaunpur, adding another exciting element to the mix.
BSP's candidate list for the 11 seats in Uttar Pradesh is a testament to the party's commitment to diversity. In Mainpuri, the party has now fielded Shiv Prasad Yadav, replacing Gulshan Shakya. In other constituencies, BSP has nominated a diverse range of candidates, including Muslim Khan in Badaun, Chhote Lal Gangwar in Bareilly, Udaraaj Varma in Sultanpur, Kranti Pandey in Farrukhabad, Mayank Dwivedi in Banda, Khwaja Samsuddin in Dumariaganj, Lallan Singh Yadav in Ballia, Umesh Kumar Singh in Ghazipur, and Atahar Jamal Lari in Varanasi.
BSP has replaced Gulshan Shakya with Shiv Prasad Yadav in Mainpuri. While BSP has fielded a Yadav candidate in Mainpuri, it has nominated a Muslim candidate in Badaun. With these decisions, Mayawati has further complicated matters for the Samajwadi Party (SP) family.
